Hi there and welcome to City-Demos! Thanks for joining us! We just wanted to say it’s an honor to have you with us. Allow me to take a minute and share with you my dream for City-Demos and our entertainment community here in Vancouver. I call it the entertainment community because that is essentially the outcome in all of the fields that this website is geared towards. Animators, 3D Artists, Game Designers, Film Makers, Actors, Artists of all kinds, and more.

I have noticed over the years that Vancouver’s network in these industries is shaky at best. With this website we hope to bring people of different thoughts, views and talents together here in a place where creativity rules, and everyone is free to critique, collaborate, compete and work together to improve themselves and those around them. It is my sincere hope that connections will be made here, both professional and personal, that friendships will be forged and the immense talent pool of our beautiful city will be enriched even beyond its current brilliance.

Right now I see all too often that those of one profession or skill set will inevitably stick with others of similar talents and don’t branch out much beyond that. While there is certainly nothing wrong with that, I’ve seen many times where problems occur between two sets of people merely because they don’t understand how it is the other works and what they are going through. A classic example I often see at for example a game or animation studio is artists don’t get along with programmers, mainly because they never interact and only hear about each other through the grapevine, and when they do inevitably have to collaborate at some point, they often clash. This doesn’t have to happen; it’s easy for them to get along if they just put a little effort into it. I know this from witnessing the dynamic at smaller companies were everyone is close together and interacting all the time, and learn to appreciate each other’s talents, because without each separate skill set, they couldn’t make a very good product.

Our vision with City-Demos is to bring that close-knit camaraderie to everyone on a much larger scale. Right now City-Demos has functions to view, and interact with each other through unique profiles and the forums, the ability to post portfolios, and to find jobs and careers, but once the site is up in full we want to start truly stimulating the Community through collective projects and contests, as a way to inspire, give back to, and invigorate even more our vibrant sub-culture.

I encourage everyone make a profile, view others profiles, be active in the forums, get to know each other and invite their existing friends to take part!
